Hydraulic shock absorber is a widely used type of shock absorber.  When the frame and the axle do reciprocating relative motion, the oil in the shock absorber passes through the valve hole on the piston repeatedly. Due to the throttling effect of the valve hole and the internal friction between the oil molecules, the damping force to attenuate the vibration is formed, which transforms the vibration energy into heat energy, which is absorbed by the oil and the shock absorber shell, and then dispersed to the atmosphere.

At present, the most widely used shock absorber in automobile is double acting cylinder shock absorber.

The cylindrical shock absorber requires the outer cylinder (made by aluminum alloy)  to work under liquid for a long time, to be corrosion-resistant, and to have high fatigue strength under complex working conditions.
